Opened in November 2012 as the first site in northern BC to offer radiation therapy, BC Cancer – Prince George (Centre for the North) provides radiation, chemotherapy, counselling, and nutrition services, with two linear accelerators on site. It is located on Lheidli T'enneh traditional territory, adjacent to University Hospital of Northern BC.
For people in Fort St. John and the Peace River region, community chemotherapy runs close to home at Fort St. John Hospital. Radiation and specialist oncology visits typically mean travelling to Prince George — a long haul on Highway 97 that is simply part of life for many northern patients.
